Hello,
I am an independent curator and art writer working between North America and Russia. I was very happy to find your website that intends to bridge the distances, histories and memories otherwise still devided.
I will be attending the following symposium
Now Is The Winter Media, Art and Politics in the Contemporary United States and Russia
An International Symposium, Exhibition and Screening Program.
This could be a great event to feature on your website and thus involve a wider audience into the dialogue which is so needed.
Please see below
October 25-27, 2007
Roy H. Park School of Communications, Ithaca College
Handwerker Gallery, Ithaca College
Cornell Cinema, Cornell University
This Symposium will bring together a discrete group of scholars, artists and curators from the United States and Russia for two days of papers, screenings, an exhibition and discussions. As with the international exhibition, Now Is The Winter (Moscow, May-June, 2007), with which the symposium is linked, this project is a conscious attempt to create a common, rather than comparative dialogue for reading the present states of conflict and collusion between media, art and politics. To that end, participants will include US scholars and artists with a sustained interest in Russian media and culture, as well as Russian participants looking actively at the United States and global movements within these fields of contest.
This project is organized by Nicholas Muellner, Assistant Professor, Department of Cinema, Photography and Media Arts, Ithaca College.
Detailed schedule and project information will be available at: http://www.ithaca.edu/rhp/niw
